I use the 3mil material in the 40inch width along with the 3M 415 tape I order here to make conservation grade movie poster flat storage and display units. The posters I collect are Italian 39"x55" and the closest American approximates are rare. Its impossible to find ready made storage solutions products in this size because anything with a 40" width is gong to be prohibitively expensive to ship in the quantities I need, so I make my own. The 3mil has worked well. Its as crystal clear when compared to the 2mil and 4mil mylar bags I get from E. Gerber and BCW to store and conserve my prints, comics, original art, magazines, and other paper collectibles. I cut the film to the length I need, and with the tape place on two edges in an "L" shape, secure it to the backing board of my choice, which most often is an acid free 40"x60" foam board I get from my local art supply store. Then I gentle slide the poster in. There is enough rigidity in the film to hold the poster flat along the taped
I suspect that few library binderies can handle rolls 40" wide; 20" and 24" wide rolls are available elsewhere, but I don't see them on the Brodart site. -tb
